Geelong Golf Club

Attractions

After being closed for more than a decade, the Geelong Golf Club has re-opened with a new look. The previous 18 hole course have been replaced with a nine hole layout within a residential estate. The new course has a more contemporary working model enabling shorter playing times with a less physically demanding experience.

It is a fun and strategic design, and while not overly long, it is a continual test of the golfers’ game. The Graham Papworth designed course has Santa Ana Couch fairways, bent grass greens and includes four par threes, four par fours and a par five.

The designer’s primary objective was to plan a good golf course that would offer an enjoyable challenge to all standards of golfer and at the same time create a premium asset within the estate for future homeowners. The resulting nine hole golf course is a par 33 of 2150 metres in length, which should have a regular playing time of about 90 minutes.

The course has a superb practice area with five target greens spread across two split fairways. There are two chipping greens and a large practice putting area.
