Geelong Gaol Museum

Attractions

The Geelong Gaol Museum is housed in the most intact 19th century prison in Victoria.

It opened in 1853 and closed in 1991 in the same conditions that you see today.

Visitors can experience the brutal conditions prisoners endured over its 138 year history along with displays telling the history of this three-story bluestone behemoth.

Visitors can view the gallows, spend some time in solitary or view some of the items made by the prisoners themselves.

Starting 21 September 2019 is the new special exhibition – Rogues and Vagabonds of Geelong Gaol.

Open weekends, school holidays and public holidays.

Due to current health advice on social distancing, please contact the business for the most up to date information regarding opening times and services.
