The quiet rural township of Woodside in the Adelaide Hills lies to the east of Adelaide, roughly a 35-minute drive via the south eastern freeway.
There are several pubs, galleries, antique and second-hand shops and cafés, as well as nearby winery cellar doors including Artwine, Barristers Block Wines, Bird in Hand and Petaluma Wines. A country market is held on the third Saturday of each month.
Just out of Woodside’s main street is Heritage Park, a former dairy factory, which now houses Woodside Cheese Wrights and Melba’s Chocolates and Confectionery. Visit Melba’s to see a working factory with vintage equipment and friendly staff at work, creating an irresistible range of sweet treats available for tasting and purchase. At Woodside Cheese Wrights sample and purchase artisan cheeses or book a class to discover the art of cheese making.
The 17-kilometre Amy Gillett Bikeway runs through Woodside on its journey between Oakbank and Mount Torrens.
Woodside is part of the Hills Sculpture Trail and is home to a marble sculpture called Co-Existence by Italian sculptor Francesco Panceri.
