UNE Natural History Museum

Attractions

Visit Australia’s only skeleton of Lightning Claw, a carnivorous large-clawed dinosaur discovered by opal miners in Lightning Ridge, NSW. It is the largest predatory dinosaur yet identified from Australia, and only the second theropod known from more than a single element. Through a collaboration between palaeontologists, the Australian Opal Centre and Australian Age of Dinosaurs, and a talented artist, Lightning Claw was recreated as a 3D printed skeleton.

The UNE Natural History Museum is a library of life. Experience the curated selection of geological and botanical specimens, invertebrates, reptiles, mammals, birds, fossils and more. Discover how UNE research contributes to their collective understanding of life on earth.
