Visit this family-run vineyard, one of the Mornington Peninsula’s only biodynamic sites serving beautiful Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling.
Make sure to call ahead so you can book an appointment with the winemaker Paul Staindl as he talks you though his experience of what it takes to make great wine.
Looking out over Western Port Bay from his kitchen, Paul will guide you through your drinking experience – at all levels of knowledge.
The site near the top of the Red Hill ridge with its east-northeast aspect provides an ideal growing site for the vines.
The depth of flavour in the fruit Staindl Wines provides has been even further enhanced by the natural approach to the viticulture.
The soils on the property are composed of classic Red Hill deep chocolate brown earth with iron buckshot through it.
This composition provides the bones to the wines. The altitude provides the long cool evenings to lengthen the ripening and allows the fruit to build flavours which provides fine perfume, delicate red fruit, and length on the palate.
