Lakes Explorer provides Water-Taxi and Eco-Tour (Sea-Safari) services using the modern and quick commercial four passenger ferry.
The Water-Taxi service and Sea-Safaris are available to explore remote and unique areas that larger tour boats do not visit.
Available on Gippsland Lakes, Lake Tyers and large Gippsland rivers.
Water-Taxi: carries up to four passengers. Fees are based on per trip. Available from Lakes Entrance to Barrier Landing, Rigby Island, Kalimna, Nyerimilang Homestead Jetty, Fraser Island Retreat (guests only), Nungurner or Metung.
Ocean Entrance Sea-Safari (Eco-boat tour): one hour educative tour of Lakes Entrance Harbour and Ocean Entrance. Departs as required.
Lakes-Explorer: visits remote location that do not have road access. Please bring suitable clothing, footwear and drink. The Skipper has the right to modify or cancel an activity.
All Water-Taxi and Sea-Safari activities are run by Skipper Pete, a Certified ECO-Guide with Eco-Tourism Australia. Skipper Pete is a former National Park Ranger, land and marine, a qualified tour guide and member of Birdlife Australia and Wildlife Tourism Australia. Lakes Explorer is a Licensed Tour Operator (DELWP Parks Victoria).
