Horse Head Rock

Attractions

Horse Head Rock is believed to be around 500 million years old and is among the oldest rocks in NSW. Barely known beyond the Sapphire Coast until recent times, this majestic rock formation is a mecca for photographers and nature lovers alike.

Its sheer size and unspoilt location is breathtaking. Horse Head Rock’s distinctive shape is best viewed from the 1.5 kilometre elevated bush walking track between Camel Rock and Murunna Point at Wallaga Lake. If you set out around the rocks from Camel Rock Surf Beach, be aware it is only accessible during low tide and can be difficult climbing.
