Christmas Riverbank Display

Attractions

The Christmas Riverbank Display on the banks of the River Torrens at the side door of the West End Brewery continues to bring enjoyment to all South Australian families.

The display commenced as a clean-up project for the staff at the brewery back in 1959, where the operations team decided to enhance the gardens with some festive cheer.

It started with Santa and his sleigh and grew with the addition of Vulcan in the 1960’s and then a giant Ferris wheel, Moby Dick, Frosty and the water wheel house.

Today structures have been created or enhanced with the newly developed Nativity scene, toy stack and the old brewery truck with Christmas tree, plus Vulcan and the Ferris wheel display new LED lighting.

Channel 7 as media partner for the display have their own promotional piece called the “Christmas Grinch” display. It shows the Grinch getting away with presents while the Channel 7 helicopter and on ground police give chase.

Bon bon’s abound with various languages of countries found in the multicultural make-up of South Australian communities.

The 2018 Christmas Riverbank Display will open daily from 4pm till 12midnight from Monday 2 December up to and including Tuesday 1 January 2019.
