Chianti

Attractions

Chianti is one of Australia’s oldest Italian restaurants, celebrating its 34th year in 2019. Chianti’s influence originally stemmed from the Favaro family’s Northern Italian heritage, but when Tobias Gush, head chef and now partner came into the business from London he brought a broader knowledge of other Italian regions. Tobias had worked with Ruth Rogers and the late Rose Gray at their applauded Italian London River Café restaurant. It was with these two legendary women that Tobias’ love of all things Italian began and flourished.

Whilst Chianti is a restaurant that celebrates the history of Italian cooking with many time-honoured dishes, and the menu and food are driven by the true Italian tradition of local and seasonal, modern Italian food equally has a respected place. The association with specialist growers and producers is obvious in all they create.

Chianti has a multi-award winning wine list of great depth and breadth featuring the best of Italian and Australian wines and an excellent back vintage list for those who love to indulge. Wines by the glass and wines matched to food are part of the total dining experience.

Due to current health advice on social distancing, please contact the business for the most up to date information regarding opening times and services.
