Yorke Peninsula’s Saltwater Classic is a biennial event for admirers of wooden and classic boats that have been faithfully restored to keep afloat some of the great traditions of boat building.
The event attracts people from across SA and interstate to parade boats off Stansbury and Port Vincent.
The most recent Saltwater Classic in 2018 attracted around 60 boats and 4,500 spectators to enjoy water-based and foreshore attractions including markets, vintage cars and motorbikes, local arts, craft and produce showcasing all the great things about Yorke Peninsula.
With support from the South Australian Tourism Commission and Yorke Peninsula Tourism, Yorke Peninsula’s Saltwater Classic has also grown in stature to become an important tourism event in the region.
A defining feature of Yorke Peninsula’s Saltwater Classic is that it is held in open, but relatively protected coastal waters of Gulf St Vincent as distinct from other wooden and classic boating events at Goolwa and along the River Murray.
